A series of relief sculptures, Exotic Fruit, I collage slip-cast fruits onto rounded striped backgrounds. Fruits are symbols of sexuality that date back to Greek antiquity. I flirtatiously conjoin their male and female forms to challenge gender identity conventions. I want my audience to feel titillation from these fruits, even though the shapes do not conform to standard sexual divisions.  The addition of gold leaf is meant to evoke traditional Catholic icons. Bright glossy colors and polka dots splash it with pop-art friendliness.
